Veterinary Nurse – Part Time to Full Time

We have a position for a gentle, calm nurse with a genuine love and concern for cats.

Canberra Cat Vet provides a peaceful haven for cats and their carers. We tailor handling and treatments to individual cats and their carers, and pride ourselves on our reading of feline body language and behaviour.

We have a happy team who respect, trust and support each other. Timely and open communication, and a sense of humour are important to us.

Our vets and nurses and enjoy continually upgrading our handling and clinical skills, and would mentor and encourage you every step of your feline learning journey.

Your role:

• Support our vets during consultations, examinations and treatments
• You must already be confident in preparation of patients for surgery and assisting with anaesthetic induction and monitoring
• Basic grooming
• Make up prescribed medications
• Monitor and administer treatments to hospitalized patients
• Liaise closely with vets on duty
• Mentor trainee nurses, act as a role model to junior nurses
• When rostered as lead nurse coordinate the nurses duties for the day
• Although we have dedicated receptionists, at busy times you will answer calls and make appointments

You must have:

• Your Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
• At least 12 months experience in a veterinary practice
• An excellent phone manner
• A calm, kind and friendly attitude to clients and team members
• Good prioritising skills
• A love of cats
